How Astra Genesis plays

A strategy and management game with patient progression. You keep a colony running, you deliver to the Directorate, and the galaxy opens up as your industry grows.

Extract, process, deliver

Every game fits in these four moves. The rest of the game, research, exploration, defence and trade, helps you do them better.

  1. 01

    Extract

Mines, wells and extractors pull ferrite, silicate, coal, oil, helium-3 and lanthanides out of the ground.

  2. 02

    Process

Factories turn them into ingots, plates, glass, optical fiber, circuits and plasteel. That takes power, and staff.

  3. 03

    Deliver

The Project Directorate expects specific deliveries. A tier is completed once they are made, with no countdown.

  4. 04

    Unlock

Each tier opens buildings, ships, quests and a piece of the story. Twelve in all, from Awakening to Genesis.

What it takes to make a circuit

A chain from the game, as the factory graph draws it. Three lines, eight buildings, and a bottleneck that can hide at every step.

Alternate recipe “Cast circuit”: two ingots and one glass make a circuit, skipping optical fiber. Like every alternate recipe, it is earned through exploration.

  • Silicate Extractor
  • Coal Mine
  • Oil Well
  • He-3 Refinery
  • Lanthanide Extractor

Calendar

The dates leading up to version 1.0. If one of them moves, it changes here first.

  1. Steam Playtest

Free testing opens on Steam. Request access from the game's page: places open in waves.

Nothing is set in stone: this list follows the game, version after version.

PvP that respects your sleep

Raids between players exist, framed by rules the server enforces: no attacks at night, nothing destroyed, and protection against being targeted over and over.

  • Curfew from 10 pm to 8 am

A fleet can leave at any hour, but never reaches you at night, in your colony's local time.

  • Nothing gets destroyed

No building, no ship, no technology lost. Damage to defences gets repaired.

  • Looting limited to surplus

Loot is capped by the attacker's hold and by a protected reserve: 40% of your stock, plus your tier's floor.

  • Six hours of respite

A colony that has just been raided cannot be targeted again for six hours.

  • Newcomers kept safe

No raid on an account less than seven days old, nor on a player who holds two colonies or fewer.

  • Warned at launch

You are warned as soon as a raid heads your way, and each side receives a detailed report.

Next step: PvP will become a choice of game mode, from a peaceful mode with no PvP at all to more demanding modes. Whatever the mode, nothing is ever destroyed. Alliance wars will only happen on a declaration accepted by both sides.

What Astra Genesis is not

A few clarifications, so you know what to expect.

  • No pay to win

€11.99 in Early Access, €14.99 at version 1.0. Nothing for sale gives an advantage in play: the in-game shop will only offer cosmetics.

  • Not a game that punishes absence

No resources that rot, no night raids, and daily quests only give cosmetics: nothing essential is lost if you skip a day.

  • Not a race to conquest

The galaxy is there to explore, a planet is there to share. Nobody repaints the map in the colours of their empire.

  • Not finished

The game is in development and this page will change with it. What is written here describes the current version.
