Site publisher
This site is published in a personal capacity by Gaetan, an independent developer who publishes under the name Revo Games, as part of the development of the game Astra Genesis. Contact: .
Hosting
The site is hosted on a server rented from OVH SAS, 2 rue Kellermann, 59100 Roubaix, France. Visits go through the network of Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend Street, San Francisco, CA 94107, United States, which protects and speeds up the site. Technical logs are kept for the legally required periods and are not used for advertising.
Intellectual property
The Astra Genesis name, the logo, the texts, the visuals and the code of the game and of this site are the property of their author. Screenshots, illustrations and logos may be reused under the conditions described on the press page. Everything else may not be reproduced without permission.
Personal data
Exactly one piece of personal data is collected on this site: the email address you voluntarily enter into the newsletter form. It is used solely to send you news about the game. It is neither sold, rented, nor passed to a third party, and no external emailing provider has access to it: messages are sent from a server I administer.
Retention: for as long as you stay subscribed. An unconfirmed sign-up is deleted automatically after seven days.
You have the right to access, rectify, erase and object. The unsubscribe link in every email removes the address immediately and permanently. For anything else, write to me, I answer personally: .
If we disagree, you may refer the matter to the CNIL, the French supervisory authority.
The Astra Genesis game
To play online, you need a game account. The game server keeps: your email address and password if you chose one (the password is stored in an irreversible form that nobody can read back, not even me), your username, your game itself (colonies, resources, progress), what you write on your profile or in an alliance, and the date of your latest sign-ins. This data is used only to run the game: it is never sold, rented or used for advertising.
Two technical logs help fix the game and protect it against cheating: a log of each account's notable actions (sign-ins, constructions, research, market orders), limited to its latest 500 entries, and an error log describing the screen and the game version when something breaks. They contain no email, no password and no IP address, and only the game's administration reads them.
If you play on Steam, the game receives from Steam your Steam ID (a number) and confirmation that your Steam account owns the game. To do so, the game server queries Valve Corporation (Bellevue, Washington, United States) when you sign in; the result of the ownership check is kept for 24 hours. Your Steam name is only used to prefill your username when the account is created: you can change it, and only the username you choose is saved. The game never reads your friends list, your Steam avatar, your country or your other games, and the sign-in ticket provided by Steam is never kept. If you unlink Steam from your account, the Steam ID stays recorded on that account so it cannot be used to open another one. What Steam does with your data is covered by Valve's privacy policy.
Game data is stored on the same server as this site, at OVH. A backup copy of the game's data and of this site's data, newsletter addresses included, is made every day at Backblaze, in its Amsterdam data center (Netherlands), so within the European Union; each copy is permanently deleted after 30 days. In your browser, the game keeps your session and preferences (language, settings) in local storage, with no advertising or tracking cookie.
Retention: for as long as your account exists. On your request, the account is anonymized right away (email and username erased, no sign-in possible anymore), then deleted within 30 days together with your game, your profile, your activity log and the Steam link; backup copies disappear 30 days later. Only traces without any email remain: entries in the error log and the administration log, and your username at the time in an alliance's history.
The rights described above also apply to the game: to get a copy of your data, correct it or delete your account, write to me: .
Audience measurement
Traffic is measured with Umami, a cookie-free tool that records neither a full IP address nor any identifier that would recognise you from one visit to the next. The data is neither sold nor shared for advertising purposes. If you would rather not be counted, your browser's Do Not Track setting is respected.
External links and services
The site links out to Discord and to game stores. Following those links takes you off this site and into their own privacy policies. The Discord member counter shown on the home page is fetched server-side: your browser does not contact Discord unless you click.
Liability
The information about the game describes software in development and may become inaccurate from one build to the next. Nothing announced here constitutes a contractual commitment.
